A hybrid deal is a commission structure that combines a one-time CPA payment with an ongoing RevShare percentage for the same referred customer. The affiliate is paid upfront when the customer qualifies, for example on a first deposit, and then earns a smaller share of that customer's revenue over time. Hybrid deals are especially common in iGaming and trading affiliate programs.
How it works
Because the affiliate receives both components, each is usually lower than it would be as a standalone deal: a reduced CPA plus a reduced RevShare percentage. The terms define the qualifying event for the CPA (often an FTD above a minimum amount), the revenue base for the RevShare (often NGR), whether negative carryover applies, and how long the RevShare runs.
Example
Example: 50 qualified players who generate $30,000 NGR over their first six months, under three deal types.
| Deal | Upfront (50 players) | Share of $30,000 NGR | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| $200 CPA only | $10,000 | — | $10,000 |
| 35% RevShare only | — | $10,500 | $10,500 |
| $100 CPA + 20% RevShare | $5,000 | $6,000 | $11,000 |
The figures are invented for illustration; real outcomes depend on player value, retention, and the deal's exact terms. If the same players had generated only $10,000 NGR, the pure CPA deal would have paid the affiliate the most.
Why it matters
For affiliates, a hybrid balances cash flow and upside: the CPA covers traffic costs now, and the RevShare pays off if customers stay active. For brands, a hybrid lowers upfront acquisition cost compared with a pure CPA while still rewarding quality, which makes it a useful middle ground with partners who want some guaranteed income. MassPartner supports Hybrid as a campaign commission type alongside CPA and RevShare. See CPA vs RevShare vs Hybrid for help choosing a model.
