Key points

  1. Flat monthly pricing

Plans from $79/month, metered by tracking requests, affiliates and campaigns rather than affiliate revenue.

  2. Fraud score on every click

Datacenter-IP detection, click-velocity limits, header checks and device fingerprinting built into tracking.

  3. Callbacks for media buyers

Affiliates send conversions to their own tracker with sub-IDs, retried automatically on failure.

  4. Seven commission types

CPA, CPS, CPL, CPC, CPI, RevShare and Hybrid, with monthly commission tiers per campaign.

FirstPromoter alternatives include Rewardful, Tapfiliate, PartnerStack and MassPartner. FirstPromoter is affiliate software for SaaS and other subscription businesses, with native Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree integrations and multi-tier commissions. MassPartner suits brands that pay CPA, CPL, RevShare or hybrid deals, need click-level fraud scoring and want a flat monthly price that doesn't rise with affiliate revenue.

What FirstPromoter is and who it's great for

FirstPromoter ties partner commissions to billing events, so renewals, upgrades, downgrades, cancellations and reactivations update commissions automatically. Its homepage addresses SaaS companies first and says it works for any subscription or recurring-revenue business.

Highlights from FirstPromoter's pricing page, where most features are listed on every plan:

  • Tracking: referral links, coupon codes, direct URL tracking without parameters, sub-ID tracking, and cookie life of up to 9,999 days with first- or last-click attribution.
  • Commissions: percentage or flat, recurring and lifetime commissions, cost-per-lead, double-sided and non-monetary rewards, bonuses, and multi-tier commissions across up to three levels.
  • Integrations: Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly and Braintree, no-code platforms, Zapier and Make, plus APIs with webhooks.
  • Payouts: mass payouts by PayPal, Wise, Stripe, crypto and bank transfer in 190 currencies, W-9 and W-8BEN collection, and affiliate agreements signed in the portal.
  • Fraud controls: self-referral detection, a paid-ad traffic policy, reCAPTCHA, automatic negative commissions on refunds, manual approval thresholds and two-factor authentication on large payments.

For a subscription business that wants commissions driven straight from its billing system, FirstPromoter is a strong, well-rounded choice.

Why teams look for FirstPromoter alternatives

The common reasons relate to pricing model and program type:

  • Price follows affiliate revenue. As of October 2026, Starter costs $49/month ($490/year) for up to $5,000 of monthly affiliate-driven revenue, Business $99/month ($990/year) up to $15,000, and Enterprise $149/month ($1,490/year) above that. The FAQ says accounts move to the next tier when they pass the limit, and Enterprise tiers go higher.
  • Postbacks for media buyers sit on Enterprise. The pricing table lists the post-back URL, server-to-server notifications for media buyers, on Enterprise only.
  • Starter limits. Starter includes up to 1,000 affiliates and three campaigns; custom dashboard domains start on Business and white-labeling on Enterprise.
  • Fraud controls are referral-focused. Click-level checks such as datacenter-IP detection, velocity limits or device fingerprinting are not described.
  • Billing-event design. Programs that pay for leads, deposits or installs reported from their own backend, rather than subscription invoices, may want a different model.

At $30,000 a month, FirstPromoter is on an Enterprise tier from $149, while MassPartner Professional stays at $149 regardless of revenue, provided traffic fits within 1M tracking requests. When to choose FirstPromoter

  • You bill through Stripe, Paddle, Chargebee, Recurly or Braintree and want commissions to follow invoices, upgrades, downgrades and cancellations without writing code. MassPartner has no billing integrations.
  • You want multi-tier commissions where partners earn from the affiliates they recruit. MassPartner doesn't offer sub-affiliate commissions.
  • Coupon codes, double-sided rewards or non-monetary rewards are part of your offer.
  • You want payouts in 190 currencies and tax-form collection handled inside the tool.
  • You prefer a lower entry price and a 14-day trial without a credit card.

When MassPartner fits better

  • You pay for actions beyond subscription invoices: leads, account sign-ups, deposits, app installs or clicks, on CPA, CPL, RevShare or hybrid terms.
  • You want a price that stays flat as affiliate revenue grows.
  • You need click-level screening: every click is checked for datacenter IPs, velocity, headers, IP reputation and device fingerprints and summarized as a fraud score, with country and traffic-source rules and daily click caps per campaign.
  • Your affiliates are media buyers. They configure callbacks to their own tracker with {$clickid} and {$sub1}–{$sub5}, and can download Google Ads and Microsoft Ads offline conversion files. Our guide to sub-ID tracking explains the setup.
  • You want AI-assisted contracts with prohibited-actions clauses and version history.

Plan to bring your own affiliates: the MassPartner marketplace is an extra discovery channel, not a replacement for recruiting. How MassPartner works for brands covers the setup.

Migration checklist: FirstPromoter to MassPartner

  1. Export from FirstPromoter. Promoters, campaigns, commission rules and payout history for your records. MassPartner has no bulk import of affiliates or history.
  2. Map campaigns. Recurring commissions for a set number of months become a recurring window; lifetime commissions become the lifetime payout model; cost-per-lead becomes CPL.
  3. Decide on multi-tier and coupon partners. MassPartner has neither feature, so restructure those deals as direct commissions or tracking links.
  4. Replace tracking. Install the MassPartner JavaScript tracking script and store the MassPartner click ID with the customer at sign-up.
  5. Report payments. Send an S2S postback for each paid invoice from your billing webhook handler, using the invoice ID as the order ID. See our S2S postback tracking page.
  6. Cover refunds. Delay approval by N days to match your refund window; see hold period.
  7. Test with the installation tester and test mode in the brand dashboard.
  8. Invite affiliates and run in parallel. Send each affiliate new links and a cutover date, and decide whether commissions on previously referred customers keep running in FirstPromoter until they end.
